W. L. "Sarge" York

W. L. "Sarge" York, 87, of Bowling Green, KY and formerly of Scottsville, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at his residence.   The Gamaliel, KY native was a former employee of Gapco Aluminum, Kentucky State Road Department, Clark Lumber Company, Bryant Lumber Company, Marvin Wood Lumber Company and member of Mt. Carmel General Baptist Church.  He was a son of the late James Wilson York and Lillie Mae Eakle York and husband of the late Gertie Mae Isenberg York. 

He is survived by 1 son:  Michael York and wife, Susan, Scottsville, KY; 

3 daughters:  Judy Darlene Fisher and husband, Marlin, Scottsville, KY; Lisa Sayers and husband, Bob, Bowling Green, KY; Vanessa Gail Clayton, Franklin, KY; 

7 grandchildren:  Monica Prock and husband, Shane; Jarred Clayton and wife, Stephanie; LaShea Clayton; Tara Clement; Tyler Brandon and wife, Brandi; Wesley York and wife, Lacy and Jennifer Sayers; 

16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by 1 brother:  Chaney York and 1 sister:  Virgie Eaton. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Key and Bro. Derek Isenberg officiating and burial in Chestnut Point Cemetery.  Visitation will be after 12 noon Monday at Goad Funeral Home.
