Nancy Elaine Carter Davis, 71, of Scottsville, KY passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at her residence. The Scottsville, KY native was a 1972 graduate of Allen County High School and Western Kentucky University. A life-long teacher, Nancy served in the Allen County-Scottsville School system for more than 30 years, dedicating her career to educating and encouraging generations of students. She loved fiercely and always put the needs of others before her own. Her kindness, generosity and unwavering love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. She loved her Lord and Savior and cherished her family. She especially loved her Curtis...her husband of 52 years, and their children and grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. She was their biggest supporter and steadfast example of unconditional love. She was a member of Oak Forest No. 2 Missionary Baptist Church, KEA and NEA and a former volunteer for the Allen County 4-H Council. She was a daughter of the late Robert Barton Carter and Dixie Lee Calvert Carter Hinton.
Nancy was a gifted writer and an accomplished poet. Through her words, she had a remarkable ability to capture life's beauty, heartache, humor and hope. Her writing could move readers to tears or fill them with joy, and her words will remain a lasting reflection of her thoughtful spirit and compassionate heart. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her dedication to her students and community, her gift for writing and the countless lives she touched with love and kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the lessons she taught.
She is survived by husband: Curtis Davis, Bowling Green, KY;
2 daughters: Rebekah Davis (Brad Stelton), La Mesa, NM; Whitney Davis Kinslow and husband, Sam, Bowling Green, KY;
2 sisters: Gayle Davis and Patricia Dillard and husband, Grant, all of Scottsville, KY;
3 sisters-in-law: Marla Carter, Carol Carter and Sheila Davis, all of Scottsville, KY;
2 grandchildren: Remington Stelton and Barrett Stelton.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Jimmy Carter and Gordon Carter; 1 sister: Carolyn Douglas and her step father: Ernest D. Hinton.
Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Holland officiating and burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:00 Noon Sunday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Anchor Project Mental Health Crisis Center in Bowling Green. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
