Murl Milton Pitchford, Sr., 96, of Scottsville passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Thompson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Ky. The Scottsville, KY native was a farmer, retired employee of Detrex where he worked for 33 years, USAF veteran and member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Carl Thompson Pitchford and Elizabeth Ann Hudson Pitchford and husband of the late Jeanetta Centers Pitchford.
He is survived by 2 sons: Michael Dale Pitchford (Kay), LaVista, NE and Murl M. Pitchford, Jr. (Elizabeth), Salvisa, KY;
1 daughter: Linda Pitchford Geis (Robert), Oklahoma City, OK;
1 sister: Lou Nell Rayner, Nashville, TN;
6 grandchildren: Ellis T. Pitchford, Jennifer Burke (Chris), Kristin Brandenburg (Michael), Jeremy Brandenburg (Marissa), Caleb Geis and Grace Pitchford;
1 great grandson. Alexander.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Marla Brandenburg and 5 brothers: Caleb, Rathe, John, Gilbert and Jack Pitchford.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Goad Funerl Home with Bro. Doug Pitchford officiating and burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery with military honors by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Sunday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Glasgow DAV Chapter 20.
