John Howard Jones, 84, of Scottsville, KY passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at his residence. The Scottsville, KY native was a Charolais cattle farmer, former employee of Potter Brumfield and Scotscraft and retired employee of General Electric and A. O. Smith. John was a member of White Plains Baptist Church, former commissioner and chairman of the Allen County Water District for 24 years, former area basketball referee and loved antique cars. He was a son of the late John W. Jones and Ruby Casada Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years: Janneta Jones, Scottsville, KY;
1 son: Steve Jones and wife, Sharon, Scottsville, KY;
A daughter-in-law: Karen Jones Sprague and husband, Andy, Barry, IL;
1 step son: Craig Moore, Scottsville, KY;
1 step daughter: Leslie Carver and husband, Trevor, Scottsville, KY;
1 brother: Paul Edward Jones, Franklin, KY;
1 sister: Hilda Cook and husband, Joel, Franklin, KY;
4 grandchildren: Seth Jones, Dr. Grace Jones, Karrigan Donovan (Ben) and Collin Jones;
2 step grandchildren: Dr. Cullen Carver (Allison) and Camden Carver (Savannah).
He was preceded in death by a son: Cliff Jones.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Tabor and Bro. Jamie Edwards officiating and burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hosparus. Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
