Jerry Arthur Wade left to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, October 24, surrounded by family. Jerry grew up in New Mexico, but moved from Mancos, Colorado, to Allen County in 1993 with his wife and five children. Jerry was a wise and intelligent man, often offering his wisdom to his many grandchildren, all whom he loved with his huge heart. He never met a stranger, always greeting them with a handshake and hello, or “Welcome to Hallelujah Hill,” his family farm.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Velma Grace Taylor and Cyrus Wade as well as several brothers and sisters. He, also, is preceded by his daughter Michele Richardson, granddaughter, Alys Smith, and great grandson James Grant III.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 34 years Alice Wade, his sister Claris Kembrell, and brother Wendell Wade. Additionally, he is survived by several children: son-in-law (widower of Michele) Ronald Richardson, Tamara Wells, Danielle Kiser(Aaron), Katrina Major (Charles), Brianna Smith (Russell), Nishira Wade (Kevin Hurt), and Joshua Wade (Deborah).
The pride of Jerry Wade’s life were his grandchildren. He was always keen in knowing and loving them. They by far will miss his wisdom and sense of humor the most. The grandchildren are Joseph Richardson, Johnathan Richardson, Steven Richardson, Jacob Richardson, Alisha Ligon, Lydia Kiser, Caitlin Grant (James) , Elizabeth Knight-Woods (Joshua), David Knight, Jonathan Knight, Brynna Kiser, Alayna Kiser, Jada Major, Savannah Major, Sahara Major, Brooke Atkinson (Dakota), Sophia Smith, Eden Smith, Evelyne Smith, Maddilyn Smith, Eliana Smith, Lincoln Smith, Jacob Hurt, Cody Wade, Caleb Wade, Chloie Wade, and Alfred Wade. Moreover, Jerry had several great grandchildren: Zoey Grant, Evelina Adcock, Julia Grant, Juliet Atkinson, Jameson Atkinson, and Weston Hurt.
Jerry loved Scottsville and Allen County to his core. He came to Kentucky on a family visit, fell in love, and he and the family decided this was where they wanted their forever home to be. He was a well known and respected member of the Scottsville. He was also a friend to the Allen County Mennonite community.
