Janis Faye (Beal) Steele

Janis Faye Steele, 68, of Scottsville, KY passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.  The East St. Louis, IL native was a retired RN from the Medical Center, member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Meador Homemakers and the Quilting Guild and a volunteer for the Allen County 4-H.  She was a daughter of the late Thomas Cleveland Beal and Opal Gilliam Beal Phillips, who survives. 

She is survived by her husband of 43 years:  Ray Steele, Scottsville, KY; 

1 son:  Joshua Steele and wife, Ali, Scottsville, KY; 

Her mother:  Opal Phillips, Doniphan, MO; 

2 brothers:  Michael Cates and Randy Cates and wife, LaDonna, all of Doniphan, MO; 

3 sisters:  Mendy Reece, Doniphan, MO; Vicki Nelson and husband, Rick, Maynard, AR and Crystal Kraft and husband, James, Holiday, FL; 

1 step brother:  Don Phillips, Doniphan, MO; 

Several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by a brother:  Robert Cates and her step dad:  Donald Phillips. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Joey Green officiating and burial in New Hope Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Donate Life.  Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home or donatelifeky.org.  Janis was a candidate for organ donation, and the family is an advocate for donation and would like for you to consider it, also.
