James Marvin "Red" Carver, 92, of Scottsville, KY passed away at 6:10 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at his residence with his daughter by his side. Daddy was a hard worker and had been all of his life. As a young man, he worked in the fields for Tibis Harston. He got a job at McClellan Stone Company and later went in partnership with Jesse Pruitt to form Scottsville Trucking Company. Several years later, he sold his half of the trucking company and went to work for the Allen County Road Department. He worked there for years until he went to work for the Kentucky Highway Department where he retired. Daddy was a man who couldn't be still. So he went to work for James Stewart on the farm. He loved to fish and trot line. He wouldn't let momma work because he said, "it was a man's place to make a living for his wife and child." He never did drink any type of alcohol or do drugs. His health started to decline when momma died, and he suffered from dementia and congestive heart failure There have been many long days and sleepless nights, but he is at rest now beside his wife.
He is survived by a daughter: Jo Ann Mullins, Scottsville, KY and
Several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William Hollie Carver and Virgie Ethel Blankenship Carver; his wife: Anette Maynard Carver and a son-in-law: Hubert Mullins. Rest in peace because your daughter loved you and momma very much. You both are sorely missed.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Meador officiating and burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 7:00 a.m. Tuesday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home.
