Helous Ray Blankenship, 83, of Scottsville, KY passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The Lafayette, TN native was a retired machinist for Milturn, Inc. in Indianapolis, a former carpenter, an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener and member of Berean Baptist Church. Poppy was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He was a son of the late Donnie Blankenship and Gladys Woodcock Blankenship.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Phillis Blankenship, Scottsville, KY;
3 daughters: Robin Sue Esser and husband, Steven, Adolphus, KY; Schevonna Ann Featherston, Scottsville, KY; Kimberly Kay Gehring and husband, Hank, Indianapolis, IN;
2 sisters: Peggy Rothenburg and husband, Boyd, Camby, IN and Dorothy Colson, Indianapolis, IN;
9 grandchildren: Candice Ray (Adam), Bridget Gehring, Houston Gehring, Devin Blankenship (Kay), Kyle Blankenship (Renae), Breanna Schiele (Jonathon), Steven Featherston (Caitlin), Amanda Blankenship and Melissa Blankenship;
5 great grandchildren: Anika Powell, Jackson, Powell, Liam Ray, Colton Ray and Dallas Schiele.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons: Kevin Blankenship and Helous Ray Blankenship, Jr.; 3 brothers: L. G. Blankenship, Billy Blankenship and Melvin Blankenship.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Goad Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
