Gladys Jewell Carlock Shields, 89, of Scottsville, KY died at 9:53 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her residence. The Boyce, KY native was a retired employee of Scotscraft, former employee of Dollar General, private care sitter, former square dancer with Western Buckaroos and Tim's Twirlers and member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late George Green Carlock and Era Johnson Carlock and wife of the late Pellie Thomas Shields.
She is survived by 1 son: Ricky Lamar Shields, Scottsville, KY;
2 sisters: Connie Powell, Greenwood, IN and Louise Lyle, Scottsville, KY;
2 sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Shields, Scottsville, KY and Iris Pruitt and husband, Hollis, Franklin, KY;
1 brother-in-law: Ewing Shields and wife, Betty, Indianapolis, IN;
Her best friend: Linda Moore and husband, Larry, Bowling Green, KY;
2 grandchildren: Aimee Ladd and husband, Jeff and Heather Wilson and husband, Joe;
4 great grandchildren: Kara, Kora and Kyra Wilson and Maxx Ladd and
Several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 1 son: Roger Thomas Shields; 2 brothers: Cyril Carlock and J. T. Carlock; 1 sister: Kathleen Whitney.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Lyle and Bro. Danny Patrick officiating and burial in Allen County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 8 a.m. Sunday until funeral time. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
