Fleming Cathcart Chisholm, Jr.

Dr. Fleming Cathcart Chisholm, Jr., 80, of Bowling Green, KY passed away during the early hours of Thursday, January 1, 2026 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green, KY.  The Charleston, West Virginia native was born to the late Fleming C. Chisholm, Sr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Shonk Chisholm. He was a graduate of Scottsville High School, Western Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He was a member of Greenwood Park Church of Christ and loved serving in the food pantry, he was former President and member of Scottsville Rotary Club. He also served as a HM3 petty officer in the United States Navy prior to entering dental college.  Dr. Chisholm practiced family dentistry and denture services in Flemingsburg, Fountain Run and Scottsville, KY and Evansville, IN.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Elaine Vernon Chisholm, Bowling Green, KY;

2 daughters: Heather Loden (James), Nashville, TN and Holly Houchens (Joe II), Bowling Green, KY;

1 brother: Edwin N. Chisholm (Jeanine Hewitt), Maryville, TN;

1 sister-in-law: Jan Vernon Wright, Bowling Green, KY;

4 grandchildren: James Loden, Jr., Reed Loden, Madeline "Maddie" Houchens and Bryant Houchens, III;

3 nephews: Michael Smith, Tuscumbia, AL; Jason Wright (Christine), Houston, TX and Joshua Wright (Sheree), Tampa, FL;

1 niece: Melissa Chisholm Johnson (Ruston), Ft. Walton Beach, FL;

He was preceded in death by 1 sister: Betsy Chisholm Smith (Sherman); nephew: Mark Scott Smith; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harry C. and Clara T. Vernon and 1 sister-in-law: Susan Tate Chisholm.

Celebration of Life service will be 6:00 P.M. Thursday at Goad Funeral Home with Dr. James Loden officiating.  Visitation will be 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Goad Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Foundation Christian Academy or Hospice of Southern Kentucky.  Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
