Dixie Meador Obituary

Dixie Paulina Stovall Meador was born on August 10, 1934, in Scottsville, KY.  She was a 1952 graduate of Allen County High School.  She worked hard all of her life.  Even before graduation, she knew the value of a hard work ethic growing up on her family farm in Meador.  Prior to marrying her husband, Larry, in 1957, Dixie worked as an employee of the local Dime store as well as the secretary for Big 4 Feed Company.  She was a member of Scottsville Baptist Church and the Allen County Arts & Crafts League.  Motherhood brought Dixie into the role of housewife, which she was naturally born to do.  Her caring personality and loving demeanor was her foundation to have many happy years raising her two daughters, Paula and Michelle.  Dixie would later find herself joining her husband at General Electric, where she worked and ultimately retired from.  She held her family close and at the center of her life.  She thrived even more when she became Mema, as many would grow to know her, often putting her family before herself.  She was the type of nurturing, caring and empathetic personality that we all long for in a grandmother.  With a passion for cooking and the ability to back it up, Mema was an avid reader of cookbooks and magazines, owning hundred of them to perfect her craft.  We will always remember sweet Mema's banana bread recipe as one of the best you've ever had!.  She loved gardening, fresh flowers, puzzle books and absolutely anything sweet.  Mema also enjoyed collecting antiques and lovingly filled her house with family heirlooms that had been passed down to her through generations.

Dixie is survived by her daughter:  Michelle Harper, Adolphus, KY;

3 granddaughters:  Courtney Wright and husband, Blake; Emma Calvert and Kristin Daniel and husband, Kyle;

3 great grandchildren:  Delaney Wright, Archie Daniel & Winnie Daniel.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Meador; her daughter:  Paula Calvert; a brother:  Don Paul Stovall, Sr. and her parents:  Ottis Paul Stovall and Margaret Frances Jameson Stovall.

The legacy that Dixie leaves behind should be a daily reminder of the kindness that we should give to others and how that will echo far beyond our time spent here.  She will be forever missed, but often thought of and remembered by the love she had for her family and friends.
