Christine Shaw "Ninnie" Young

Christine Shaw "Ninnie" Young, 96, of Scottsville, KY passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green.  She was born in Tompkinsville, KY to the late Johnnie Shaw and Bertha Spears Shaw.  She married Andrew Young on May 20, 1950, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2014.  She was a former employee of Washington Overall Manufacturing, American Greetings and Imperial Reading.  Christine was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church for over 60 years and has been a good a faithful servant of the Lord for over 80 years. 

She is survived by 3 sons:  Jim Young and Jeff Young and wife, Kari, all of Scottsville, KY and Joe Young and wife, Lynn, Adolphus, KY; 

1 daughter:  Janie Perdue, Scottsville, KY; 

6 grandchildren:  Eric Perdue, Jason Perdue and Maegan Devore and husband, Wes, all of Scottsville, KY; Junior Young and wife, Katelyn, Adolphus, KY; Sandy High and husband, McKale, Tompkinsville, KY and Katie Jones and husband, Clay, Fountain Run, KY; 

11 great grandchildren:  Connor Perdue and Logan Perdue, Muldraugh, KY; Audrey Young, Adolphus, KY; Willa High and Walker High, Tompkinsville, KY; Reed Jones, Fountain Run, KY and Anna, Silas, Ruth, Nora and Ransom Devore, all of Scottsville, KY;

Special caregivers:  Michelle Meredith, Shalyn Dick, Shannon Emery and Beverly Woodard. 

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 4 sisters and an infant sister. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Eddie Wilson and Bro. Jimmy Hogue officiating and burial in New Salem Cemetery.   Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Goad Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until funeral time at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to New Salem Missionary Baptist Church.  Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
