Cecil Calvert

Cecil Wayne Calvert, 90, of Scottsville, KY passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.  The Scottsville, KY native was a retired employee of Allen County Board of Education, a former principal in Muhlenberg County, former teacher in the Jefferson County School System, a famer, a gentleman and a member of New Life Fellowship Church and Gideon's International.  He was a son of the late James Bransford Calvert and Lela Belle Jones Calvert and husband of the late Sue Turner Calvert.

He is survived by 2 sons: Joey Wayne Calvert and Mark Jay Calvert, both of Scottsville, KY;

2 daughters: Shannon Warren and Leanne Calvert-Barnes and husband, Joseph, all of Scottsville, KY;

1 sister: Terry Bratcher, Columbia, KY;

6 grandchildren: Miranda Cardona (Luis); Bevan Warren, Taylor Gustafson, Harrsion Hurd, Spencer Hurd and Angel Robinson;

1 great grandchild: Abigail Nava-Warren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Joey Wayne Calvert, Jr., 1 brother: James Jr. Calvert and 1 sister: Helen Van Houten.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2023 at New Life Fellowship Church with Bro. Al Buckta and Bro. Glen Potts officiating and a meal to follow the service.  Visitation  with the family will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the church.   Goad Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Gideons.   Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
