Bessie Frances "Granny" Buford

Bessie Frances "Granny" Buford, 93, of Scottsville, KY passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.  The Scottsville, KY native was a homemaker and former foster parent, former employee Green Thumb, Friendship Manor Nursing Facility, Cal Turner and J. W. Gunter families.  She was a member of Greenville Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church.  She was a daughter of the late Charlie Brecken Buford and Ida Myrtle Starks Buford. 

She is survived by 3 sons:  Charles Stanley Starks, and wife, Lauraetta, and William DeWayne Starks, Sr. and wife, Helen, all of Louisville, KY and Samuel Maurice Starks and wife, Venessa, Franklin, KY; 

2 daughters:  Belinda Starks Tatmon and husband, Michael, Bowling Green, KY and Beletha Barnett and husband, Willie, Franklin, KY; 

1 daughter-in-law:  Reba Buford, Scottsville, KY; 

13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by 2 sons:  Jonathan Paul Buford and Thomas Alan Buford and 1 brother:  Simon Peter "Buck" Buford. 

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Barrett Wright offiiciating and burial in Greenville Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 7:00 a.m. Friday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home.
