Herb Gillock, 73, of Alvaton, KY passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Scottsville, KY native was a former softball coach, former employee of PIC and former deputy jailer for the Allen County Detention Center. He was a member and the first pastor of Gloryland Gospel Church, a U. S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict, Viet Nam and Desert Storm. He was a member of Halfrey Dalton VFW Post 5712, DAV Chapter 152 and the American Legion. He was a son of the late John Thompson Gillock and Ola May Wheeler Gillock.
He is survived by his wife: Kathy Gillock, Alvaton, KY;
7 daughters: Joy Lynn Epley, Bowling Green, KY; Lori Beth Medley and fiance', Scott Shelton, Sharon Grove, KY; Delta Simmons and husband, Leslie; Martina Pearson and husband, Brad, and Brandy Scruggs, all of Scottsville, KY; Chanda Marcrum and husband, Wesley, Lawrenceburg, KY; Barbie Hall and husband, Austin, Hartford, KY;
1 brother: J. T. Gillock and wife, Louise, Franklin, KY;
3 sisters: Barbara Driver and Margaret Gray, both of Scottsville, KY and Mary Ann Keith, Liberty, KY;
16 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Linda Lou Patrick Gillock; 2 brothers: Walker Gillock and Ricky Gillock and 2 sisters: Avo Carter and Edna Copas.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Calvert and Jerry Whitney officiating and burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery with military honors by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20. Visitation will be after 12 noon Monday at Goad Funeral Home.
