Glenn Lawrence Obituary

On Sunday, July 14, 2019 Glenn H. Lawrence, loving husband and father of 2 children passed away at the age of 79 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, KY. Glenn was born on June 28, 1940 in the Amos Community of Allen County to Ray Lawrence and Blanche Law Lawrence.

At the age of 17 in May of 1958 Glenn married his best friend and life partner Betty Conner.  Together they raised 2 children Glenn Lawrence, Jr. and Rita (Lawrence) Branham. Glenn was a retired employee of 24 years of General Electric and A.O. Smith. Glenn loved farming and was an avid fisherman for several years.  Glenn was saved in 1956 and joined New Salem Missionary Baptist Church, where he is still a member and deacon.

Glenn was known for his infectious smile, his quick wit and his kind and compassionate spirit.  Most would say you could hear him before you would see him by his Whistling. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents: Ray and Blanche Lawrence; 1 sister: Sue Walton; 1 brother: James Lawrence and a brother-in-law: Roger Brawner.

 

He is survived by his wife: Betty Lawrence, Amos Community;

1 son: Glenn Lawrence, Jr. and wife, Pam, Siler City, N.C.:

1 daughter: Rita Branham and husband, Gordon, Scottsville, KY;

2 sisters: Maureen Johnston, Memphis, TN and Patricia White, Huntsville, AL;

4 brothers: Travis Lawrence, Madison, TN; Caleb Lawrence, Greenfield, IN; Joe Lawrence, Fortville, IN and Lewis Lawrence, Franklin, KY;

2 sisters-in-law: Martha Brawner, Lafayette, TN and Genelle Lawrence, Scottsville, KY;

4 grandchildren: Ryan McIntosh and wife, Andrea; Misty Harston and husband, Bro. Chad; Adam Branham and wife, Laura and Michael Lawrence;

A niece who called him Papa: Jamie Shaw and husband, Chris;

8 great grandchildren: Katie Branham, Brady McIntosh, Adlee Branham, Raylee Harston, Bennett McIntosh, Ariah Lawrence, Mia McIntosh and Hunter Branham.

 

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Chad Harston and Bro. Eddie Wilson officiating and burial in New Salem Cemetery.  Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 7:00 A.M. Wednesday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Norton's Children's Hospital Cardiac Unit in Honor of Raylee Harston.  Donations may be made at Goad Funeral Home.
