L. C. Starks, 90, of Scottsville, KY died at 6:28 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.  The Scottsville, KY native was a retired employee of Dollar General Corporation and the Turner Family, where he worked for over 55 years.  As a graduate of the Warren School of Trades, he was certified in woodworking and cabinet making.  He was also an avid gardener and someone who never met a stranger.  As a dedicated member of Scottsville First Baptist Church, he served faithfully as a deacon for over 50 years and co-chaired the Men and Women's Day programs with his wife.  He was a member of the Ancient Landmark Masonic Lodge #28 of Bowling Green, KY for over 60 years and a World War II Army veteran.  He was a son of the late Alonzo and Ethel Richey Starks and husband of the late Ruby Ferguson Starks.

 

To cherish his memory and celebrate his life, he is survived by a devoted son:  Rick Starks and his wife, Saundra, of Bowling Green, KY; 

2 beloved grandchildren:  Derrick Starks (Kimberly) and Shannon Starks (William), all of Nashville, TN; 

1 sister:  Evangeline Soules, Scottsville, KY and a host of relative and friends. 

He was preceded in death by 1 brother:  J. L. Starks and 2 sisters:  Ida Waif Hodge and Irene Calvert.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Goad Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roscoe Robey officiating and burial in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors by Ft. Campbell.  Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 7 a.m. Tuesday until funeral time at Goad Funeral Home.   Ancient Landmark Lodge #28 will hold masonic rites at 7 p.m. Monday at Goad Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Scottsville First Baptist Church Building Fund.  Donations may be mailed to P.
